The Chairman of Igbo-Etiti local government area, Enugu State, Hon Ikenna Nwodo, yesterday swore in a number of appointees. These were Supervisors, Senior Personal Assistants and Personal Assistants.
Speaking at the ceremony that was held at the council headquarters, Ogbede, Hon. Nwodo recalled that during the campaign, he had promised the people that when elected he would run an all-inclusive government that would factor in and accommodate every interest, for the development and progress of the local government.
He said the event of yesterday was holding in total fulfilment of that promise, noting that while the selection was broad-based, greater care was taken to ensure those chosen had the requisite skills, competence and capacity to deliver on their collective mandate to the people.
The Mayor said, “We’ve put together a team for progress, of which the composition reflects the promise we had made during the campaigns, to run an all inclusive administration. Now that it is time to hit the ground running, the selection is thus broad, with people willing to make sacrifices for the good of our people and local government area. We are grateful. And for those who are not here yet, rest assured your opportunities are coming in due time.”
Meanwhile those sworn in are as Supervisors are: Ogbonna Ogbaji (Education), Ejike G. Agu (Works), Chibueze Alex Ezeaku (Finance), Leonard Okenyi (Agriculture) and Ogbonna S. Ekori (Health).
The SPAs are Chris Nwidi (Special Duties), Charles Ugwu (Land and Development) and Bonaventure E. Akubue (Youths and Sports). Also sworn in were thirty-two Personal Assistants.
Some of the appointees who spoke on behalf of the others thanked the Mayor for giving them the opportunity to be on his team, assuring of their total commitment to the good cause that is his well-defined mission in Igbo-Etiti.
The event was witnessed by senior council officials, community leaders, some major stakeholders like the PDP Igbo-Etiti LGA Chairman, Hon. Emeka Okoro Eze; the former Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Malachy Agbo; Hon. Barr. Sam Otoboeze; families and friends of the sworn in officials as well as members of the public.
