Former National Assembly members from Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, spanning from 1999 to date, have unanimously endorsed Enugu State Governor, Barr. Peter Mbah, and the Council Chairman, Dr. Eric Odo, for their outstanding performance in office.

They made this known during a courtesy visit to the council headquarters in Ogbede, where the lawmakers—Rt. Hon. Chris Nnadi, Rt. Hon. Princess Stella Ngwu, and Rt. Hon. Stainless Nwodo—commended both leaders for their remarkable contributions to development at the state and local levels.

Commendation for People-Centered Leadership

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Rt. Hon. Chris Nnadi explained that their endorsement was informed by the people-centered impact of the two leaders within a short period in office. He praised Governor Mbah for positioning Enugu State on the path of economic prosperity and infrastructural renewal, while also highlighting Dr. Odo’s developmental strides in health, education, youth empowerment, and social services.

“We have seen local government administration in different eras, but what Dr. Eric Odo is doing today is exceptional,” Nnadi said. “His leadership has brought Igbo-Etiti to the limelight as a reference point in inclusive governance. From attracting state-backed projects to driving community participation and ensuring transparency, Odo has shown that leadership is about impact, not politics.”

Milestones in Grassroots Development

Nnadi further noted Igbo-Etiti’s milestone as the first local government in Enugu State to be validated as Open Defecation Free (ODF), describing it as a major health and sanitation achievement under Odo’s administration. He urged residents to rally behind the council chairman, stressing that his synergy with Governor Mbah would bring unprecedented development to the area.

Odo’s Pledge to Consolidate Progress

In his response, Dr. Eric Odo expressed deep appreciation for the endorsement, describing it as both an honor and a call to greater responsibility. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to consolidating ongoing projects in healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure, while also expanding opportunities for youth and women across Igbo-Etiti.

“This endorsement from our elder statesmen and experienced leaders is a clear reminder that we must not relent,” Odo said. “I see it not just as recognition but as a challenge to continue delivering on our mandate and raising the bar in grassroots development. Together with Governor Peter Mbah’s transformative vision, we will make Igbo-Etiti a model council area in Nigeria.”
