The Executive Chairman of Igbo-Etiti LGA, Hon. Ikenna Nwodo, on Thursday the 8th of June 2023, welcomed delegates from Umuna community; who were at the council headquarters in Ogbede, in a bid to discuss ways to put an end to the lingering electricity challenges of the community.
The community which had been without power supply for over 7 years, got their hope renewed by Nwodo, on whose invitation they were at the council headquarters.
The delegates present at the meeting were, Emmanuel Attama who represented the Igwe of the community, Ogbaji Cletus, the PG of the community, Ntikiri Alpheus, representative of the community’s Councillor, and Ekori Ogbonna, the Supervisor for Health.
In the course of the meeting, the Mayor ascertained what the issues were, ranging from a faulty transformer, to non-functional poles, and unpaid bills.
Responding to the issues pointed out, the council Chairman promised that the leadership of the local government will assist the community.
He, on the spot, presented a cheque of 5 Million Naira which covers the cost of the repairs, and also promised to take more practical steps to ensure that power is restored and sustained in the community.
He said, “I will try my very best. I want to ensure that at least something is happening, to alleviate the sufferings of the people”.
Responding to the Chairman’s goodwill, the delegates expressed a heartfelt gratitude.
They said, “Umuna na echete gi, Umuna na agorugi offor, Chukwu ga echeterigi ya, God in Heaven will remember it. We assure you that within one week, you will hear an update on the job. The money which you have given us for this project, will be used judiciously “.
