Continuing, he said “our government is on record to have undertaken one of the most extensive, all inclusive and diversified alleviation measures in the history of the local government. This we achieved by involving over a thousand citizens through multi strata, engagement, in addition to the direct and collateral impacts of the many projects we have executed so far.”
According to Hon. Nwodo, any government that didn’t take the welfare of the people strongly was not worth the support of the people, adding that for his administration, the people were his priority.
Thus, according to him, “one of our core deliverables is water, which we often rightly say, is life. As such we are in active collaboration with high level partners like Wateraid and UNICEF for a total realization of these vital objectives and policies on water, sanitation and health.
The chairman told the youths the government upon assumption noticed that over ninety five percent of the water infrastructures in the local government was in total disrepair. He said many overhead storage tanks were rusty and leaking, the reticulation systems broken, boreholes and pumps collapsed, among others. The government knew just then it had a huge task at hand. And ever since, they had been on their toes on them.
He once again thanked the youths for their love and support, inviting them to be part of an oncoming initiative of his administration he called Igbo-Etiti PET. According to him, this stands for Igbo-Etiti Projects Evaluation Tours, where the ordinary people, the real owners of government, would be on hand on continuous basis to see what his government has done, is doing and planning to do, for their assessment and critical inputs.
