The Chairman of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Dr. Eric Odo, has addressed criticisms surrounding the recent appointment of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) on Agriculture for Garden Egg, Pepper, and Yam.

In a statement released on Tuesday by his media aide, Izuchukwu Epueke, Dr. Odo clarified that these appointments are a strategic move to boost agricultural productivity and economic growth in the region.

Leveraging Igbo-Etiti’s Agricultural Strength

Dr. Odo emphasized Igbo-Etiti’s strong agricultural heritage, particularly in the cultivation of these staple crops, and highlighted their potential for both local consumption and export.

“These appointments are part of a deliberate effort to strengthen agriculture in Igbo-Etiti. Our goal is to equip local farmers with the necessary resources, expertise, and support to enhance production.”

He further explained that improving market access and increasing farmers’ earnings would not only stimulate the local economy but also promote sustainable development.

Addressing Public Concerns

Dr. Eric Odo dismissed the online criticism as misinformation from detractors and opposition figures seeking to undermine his administration’s progress. He urged the public to see the appointments as part of a broader vision to enhance food production, create jobs, and empower farming communities.

Call for Public Support

The council chairman called on residents to support his administration’s drive to position Igbo-Etiti as a hub for large-scale agricultural production and long-term economic advancement.
